Message

Taking on the position of Chairperson of the Lester B. Pearson School Board, as a result of the fall 2021 English School Board Elections, is a privilege I take very seriously. In leading the LBPSB, I intend, with my heart and soul fully invested, to complete the mandate by listening to and consulting the community we serve, by ensuring I am fully informed and educated on all issues that pertain to my job, and by making decisions based on considering all facts and points of view. My goal is to ensure that all LBPSB students receive the highest level of 21st Century education possible.

I believe that English school boards play a key role in the success of our students.

Serving as a LBPSB commissioner for 11 years (2 separate mandates) has solidified my faith in and vision of a school system and community which is devoted to each student achieving excellence while adhering to the LBPSB’s values of global and digital citizenship, inclusion, innovation, integrity and respect.

And, as the past Chair of the Board at John Abbott College, the JAC Foundation and Vice-Chair of the LBPSB, I developed skills in leadership and consensus building, key strengths for a school board chair.

I also taught for many years, in the high school, adult education and literacy sectors, then at the college level. My career has given me a solid knowledge of the challenges faced by professionals, teachers, support staff and students. Our employees must be fully supported.

As a parent of five LBPSB graduates, I understand the importance of listening to the student voice and to parents to ensure our students acquire a solid bilingual education within the programs and schools they have chosen at the LBPSB.

Communicating the strengths of the LBPSB to the English community as a first choice for education is of key importance so the LBPSB can continue to flourish.

We are living in uncertain times. As Chair, I hope to guide the LBPSB in the delivery of exemplary education, during a pandemic and beyond, in a safe environment, by ensuring we serve our community with the utmost civility, responsibility and stewardship.
