Lester B. Pearson School Board acknowledges that our schools and centres are located on the unceded ancestral territory of the Kanien’kehá:ka (Mohawk) People of the Haudenosaunee Confederacy, that was established when the Peacemaker arrived in this region, centuries ago, to share his message of peace.
We honour the Kanien’keha: ka (Mohawk) people who continue to steward this land, with great care, to ensure the land remains healthy and safe for the next 7 generations.
We acknowledge the continuing harm of colonization on First Nations, Inuit and Métis people and commit to informing ourselves about these injustices by reading the Truth and Reconciliation Commission of Canada: 94 Calls to Action and acting upon them whenever possible. This year we will be learning about the “Peace Maker” and the importance of the “Great Law of Peace” for the Kanien’keha:ka people. To quote Lester B. Pearson: “Understanding the nature of conflict leads to peace.”
