Form to request change in payment of school taxes from Commission scolaire des Trois-Lacs
to Lester B. Pearson School Board

School Taxes
The Lester B. Pearson school taxes are collected through the Comité de gestion de la taxe scolaire de l’île de Montréal (CGTSIM).  The mission of the CGTSIM, under the governance of a body politic, is to consolidate technical, administrative, and financial activities of the school boards on the Island of Montreal.  Articles 399 – 446 of the Education Act describes the role of the CGTSIM.

The Comité de gestion covers the territory of the five school boards on the Island of Montréal:
Commission scolaire Poînte-de-l'Île
Commission scolaire de Montréal
English Montreal School Board
Lester B. Pearson School Board
Commission scolaire Marguerite-Bourgeoys

For French-speaking students, this territory covers the entire Island of Montréal, plus a few nearby islands, including île des Soeurs, île Bizard, and île Dorval. For English-speaking students, the territory is the same, plus, to the west, part of the area known as the Harwood sector, up to the Ontario border.

Choice for school tax purposes

A property owner whose children have been admitted to the educational services of a school board having jurisdiction over the territory where the property is located MUST pay school taxes to that school board. When the children of a property owner are admitted to the educational services of the two school boards having jurisdiction over the territory where the property is located, the payment of taxes to each board is proportional to the number of children admitted to the educational services of each board.

By virtue of the Education Act, a property owner who does not have children admitted to the educational services of a school board having jurisdiction over the territory where the property is located may pay school taxes to the school board of his/her choice. Such choice takes effect the following school year and must be done by April 1 of each year.  In order to pay your school taxes to the Lester B. Pearson School Board instead of La Commission scolaire Trois-Lacs, the attached form must be completed and forwarded to la Commission scolaire Trois-Lacs.
